  • Original Nepali citizenship certificate, or original Minor Identity Card for applicants under 16
  • Current or expired Nepali passport, if the applicant has held one before

Process overview

Applicants first complete an online pre-enrollment form (choosing first-time issuance, renewal, or replacement for a lost/stolen/damaged passport, and a 34- or 66-page booklet), booking an appointment date and time and uploading scanned copies of the required documents. After submitting the form online, the applicant downloads and prints the resulting form and brings it, along with the original documents, to the scheduled in-person appointment for biometric enrollment.

Required documents and process overview are paraphrased from the Department of Passports' own official website (its "When applying within Nepal" and related process pages), not copied verbatim, and reflect the general/domestic process only — applying from abroad through an embassy or consulate involves some different steps (e.g. scanned-document size limits, mailing passports back) not detailed here. Fees are deliberately not stated in this record: fee amounts change and were not independently re-confirmed as current on the verification date above, consistent with this project's rule not to state a figure that hasn't been specifically checked. This is the first real (non-sample) service record; the existing sample `passport` service entry remains separately as demo data and describes a fictional process, not this real one.
